Museum of Contemporary Art Helga de Alvear catalogue

This bilingual publication is the catalogue of the  inaugural exhibition at the Helga de Alvear Museum, curated by José María Viñuela. It includes texts by Helga de Alvear herself, Manuel Borja-Villel, Ingrid Guardiola, Michelle Kuo and Andrea Lissoni, with color illustrations of the works of the 109 selected artists and views of the exhibition assembly.

Borja-Villel stresses the need for the figure of the collector in order to understand contemporary art, a figure that little by little has gained popular attention and has reaffirmed his authority. In this catalogue, and in the exhibition, it is essential to know the figure of Helga de Alvear, an art collector passionate about abstract art and minimalism. This catalog (and the exhibition that is the subject of it) shows the artistic taste of Helga herself, with an exhibition that includes works made with all kinds of materials and a preponderance of topics to which today we should pay more attention such as the environment or sustainability.
