Desde el año 1997 la calidad y el continuo crecimiento de los fondos de la Colección Helga de Alvear ha sido objeto de interés por parte de diferentes instituciones que han realizado exposiciones temporales a partir de las obras de arte que la integran. La organización conceptual de las mismas y su dimensión es tan diversificada como la de los propios centros de exposiciones que las han acogido y demuestran la riqueza y posibilidades de trabajo que la colección ofrece.
Desde la inauguración del Centro de Artes Visuales Fundación Helga de Alvear Cáceres, la organización de exposiciones temporales basadas en diferentes aspectos de la colección constituye uno de los ejes en torno al cual se articulan las actividades del Centro. Sin embargo, continúa siendo prioritaria la presentación de la colección en otros centros artísticos nacionales e internacionales, como base de la función de formación y divulgación que orienta la actividad del centro.
