Museum of Contemporary Art Helga de Alvear

The award-winning studio Tuñón Arquitectos was in charge of creating this tailor-made space to house the Helga de Alvear Collection in Cáceres. The rehabilitation and museographic adaptation of the rehabilitated modernist building known as the Casa Grande was followed by the construction of a new building that has been awarded international architecture prizes. The Museum occupies the imaginary line that separates the historic center of Cáceres, a World Heritage Site, from the most modern part of the city, thus creating a fluid communication channel between the past and the present.
